RE: What do you call those diversion thangy's

Hey Earl ... The trailer is surely as level I can make it. I carry a 3' level with me and check north south, east and west. The reason for that is that I just cant sleep when the camper is at an angle. But ... it doesnt matter whether the camper is level or not anyway. My 7 year old thinks the tub is a swimming pool and the design is pretty bad. The water coming off the walls is actually channeled toward the tub edge because of design. Didnt have any problem at all with the Cherokees shower. Wish I had that one back.

RE: Keystone Passport 280bh fails miserably

Keith99RS You can say it as fast or as slow as you want. I was born and raised just across the sound and understand CT speak very well. This is my final comment on this subject. Frankly, I could care less about McGeorges profits. Im worried about my pocket. As long as consumers put up with this type of nonsense, we will continually get screwed over for products and services we buy. You want examples ? Why when I try to cash in warranties on vehicles sold or traded in do I have to go to the dealer to get my prorated refund back ? If we use Dodge for this example, my warranty payment went directly to Chrysler service contracts ... They didnt wait 60 or 90 days for the money. Why when an incompetent workman drills multiple holes in my roof to install a satty dish, do I have to first pay for the fix out of my pocket, then fight with the satty company for months to get a refund ? .... no my house insurance shouldnt be liable. Why when that same satty companies help desk, proves to be also incompetent ... do I have to continue to pay the monthly bill for service NOT rendered for MONTHS without a refund .. how do I know they are incompetent ... they were providing internet access ... I have been in the data communications field for 27 years. The first question they asked when I reported connectivity issues was "can you browse ?" any tier 1 op in the field would understand that if I couldnt ping their gateway router, I surely couldnt browse. If I want something not stocked, doesnt matter what Im in the market for, why do I have to pay for it and shipping first; hope that its delivered in reasonable amount of time. I pay, for arguments sake, for a 3-5 day delivery time, but it arrives at my door after 7 days expire. .... or some company or warehouse realizes somewhere along the path that "oh, its on back order!" often charging service fees for cancelling the order. A credit card is mandatory for "holding a reservation for a hotel room", why then is my credit card charged and billed as non refundable inside the cancellation grace period ? These are things that have happened to me in the recent past and there will be more. Hats off to you for being a advocate for the retailer. I, however, am not that graceful and spot smoke and mirrors a mile away. That slide was leaking bad. They told me that the replaced the entire wall. That happens to be the biggest bunch of bull going. You want to know why I say this ? I have pictures. All they did was cover up the the joint where the wall meets the floor so that you cant see the wall covering delaminating. Come on man, we arent talking about a pair of Levi jeans that split a seam prematurely here, we talking about close to 20k man !! No matter how you slice it up, the dealer is just as responsible as the manufacturer and now, so is the repairing service center. You want to know what good customer service is ? You want to know what standing behind you product is ? This is an exchange with a MANUFACTURER just days ago .... I ride a motorcycle. I bought heated gear. I left the lead from the battery on through the year. Through my fault it was destroyed / corroded by the elements ... I couldnt find on in stock at the large bike suppliers ..... I prompted the manufacturer asking if I could purchase directly from them .... the exchange ... Yeah ... I posted elsewhere about those plastic thingys ... In ref to McGeorges ... sorry dont buy it. I reported the problem days after ownership and they had more on the lot at that time. RE: Keystone Passport 280bh fails miserably

Keith99RS Im not as trusting as you may be. I saw what she was holding in her hand as we went over the repairs. A hand written form of the mechanics explanation of what the problems were. That is what I should be given. Just like when I drop off my Tow vehicle for repairs.

RE: Keystone Passport 280bh fails miserably

Well it certainly isnt leaking from the slide ... at least when closed. It rained very well last night on the way home. Im not confident that they did what they said they did. To be honest Im just really turned off right now. Dealing with this junk coupled with the price of gas .... Im thinking maybe its time to cut the losses and get out of the game. When we camp, well use cabins. But Im not sure if I could even get rid of it right now anyway... even accepting a decent loss. All things considered, the cost of a lawyer is just as much as if I took a 5 to 8k loss .... the general reply was "have good chance" or "will probably" win. If not, I still have a piece of******trailer with another 5 or 8k into it. McGeorges got in touch with me again after I replied to an unsolicited email I received from them ... told me that there was "a place in Garner" that could help me. They miss the point altogether. They took my money. They should be making it right. By making it right, I mean, simply give me another 08 Passport. BUT, I dont want them touching this unit because of the few service experiences I had. Their customer service is atrocious. You dont have a team meeting to give out awards just after you open with 8 or 10 people waiting to check in. I ask myself, If they behave like that right out in the open where customers can observe, what are they doing when working on vehicles and customers are not around ? So .. we're kicking around what we are going to do, meanwhile hoping lighting strikes it, its taken away by tidal wave or its sucked into a vortex so that gap will pick up the balance :)

What do you call those diversion thangy's

Some of you may have read my post about the 08 Passport. The shower is poorly designed. When taking a shower, water gets all over the floor ... this thing leaks like Niagra Falls ... What do you call those things that are plastic, shaped like an ell that you stick to the top edge of the tub to keep the water from spilling on to the floor. Ive seen them before and tried searching all the large supplier web sites for "water + diversion + shower" but no joy. any ideas ... gotta fix this myself.

RE: Keystone Passport 280bh fails miserably

The update They would not give me any kind of receipt when I picked up the trailer. I thought by law they are supposed to give a receipt of the work performed. Im going to contact the attorney generals office today to find out. The fix for the wall and floor was a simple piece of molding, but she told me that the entire wall was replaced. RE: Keystone Passport 280bh fails miserably

More to this ????? I Bought the camper on 3/19/08 in Ashland Va. I live in Hurdle Mills NC. They wanted the camper back so that they can do the teflon coating (a waste to me, wife wanted it). I pulled it back up to Ashland the next week. The night before dropping it off for the service ... stayed at the Americamp just across the I-85 bridge from where the dealer was located. It rained. I noticed the slide leak. I notified the selling dealer the next day while dropping it off. Because of the service I received and the professionalism of the service staff, I chose not to have that dealership perform the fix. Their competence is a whole differt story. I spare the details. I scheduled service closer to home. The local Raliegh/Durham Keystone guy had/has a back log of six months but had an opening in a different location of the same dealership in Fayetteville. So thats where Im taking it on the scheduled date July 7th. Two hours away from the house. While camping this week ...... Im currently at the KY Jellystone on the family vacation ... a neighboring camper called me out to show me / tell me to take a look at the undercarriage of the camper ... the gray water leak .... massive. You want pictures ? The bottom side of the camper should be flat. It was bowed considerably (and still is) toward the ground due to the weight of the water. Now I dont claim to be a trailer mechanic, But I am here to tell you that leaks of this kind running over the type of material, mainly the type of wood they are using, in this camper is a death sentence. How do I know that ? My family has been in the woodworking business for years. My father, practically his entire life ... hes now 75. Why do I seek legal counsel ? Ive been through this with a car. I intend to go straight for the Jugular ... Va law ... I still havent gotten word on whether or not I can do it from NC ... states that I can sue the manufacturer and dealer up to 18 months after the initial purchase. ...and thats exactly what Im going to do. I would prefer not to do this. I believe in the world we live in today most try to put blame elsewhere for financial gain. However, I believe that McGeorges and Keystone will force me into a corner. You, RandACampin may choose other avenues. I learn from my past mistakes and will aggressively pursue both companys. I did not create these issues and the camper has been used only four times. Are you telling me that you would actually take a more soothing approach ? The camper is a piece of******... all I ask is that they give me another New 2008 Keystone Passport 280bh. The wife and I make well over six digits ... still 20k bucks is alot of money to us. We work hard for what we have ... Again, I dont want to get too far off track. My initial posting is intended to notify consumers. Simply that. Be careful and pass this unit and dealer up if you want to save yourself headaches. Im the proof ! Chris

RE: Keystone Passport 280bh fails miserably

ok lets clarify a few things 1. No bashing intended this is to inform consumers. 2. I make no mention of any other Keystone Model, ONLY Passport 280bh. 3. Yes. Keystone, the purchasing dealer and the servicing dealer are all aware. I live in NC but bought the camper in Va. Yes. I have web access and I intend to take legal action against both Keystone and the selling dealer. Currently in the works. Will keep you posted. Regards Chris

Keystone Passport 280bh fails miserably

To date heres the problems : Leaks up the ying yang 1. slide is a waterfall not a leak. Its already swelling and delaminating wood and walls. 2. Seem like gray water plumbing issue. The rear panel on the underside of the camper was swollen with water. I had to poke a few holes in the cardboard like covering to drain the water. 3. There is wood swelling at the base of the dining room table seat adjacent to the frig. 4. The courtesy light at the front outside of the camper doesnt work. 5. The knob to change water direction from bath to shower broke off. 6. All stickers are peeling off inside and out. Some of this is new business while currently camping ... Im now trying to figure out how to get some one to come and take a look at the gray water leak without spending $1000 bucks. Keystones product sucks and I totally regret making this purchase. I wish I had my Forest River back. From what I understand Keystone is one of the top ten manufacturers where Forest River isnt. I couldnt disagree more. This camper was purchased from McGeorge's Rolling Hills RV SuperCenter 11525 Sun Shade Lane Ashland, Va 23005-804R I would recommend staying away from Keystone Passports and McGeorges RV.

RE: Cost of campground rates going up...........

I look at it this way ... very simply. 1. The interest paid on the trailer is deductible. 2. If I would have to pay for a hotel room for 5 for 7-10 days, the bill would be much more then $500 dollars. I usually stay at Jellystones ... kids love them or KOA's; occasionally some nice privately owned. 3. And this is a biggy - I know who slept in the bed the night before. 4. We dont spend alot on restaurants. We do go out but munch and have many more meals in the camper then we would if we had a hotel room. 5. When camping we are in our (2nd) home. .. and now with this bed bug outbreak .. man ... who wants to stay in a hotel room with that ... The wife and I are going on a motorcycle trip at the end of this month. Im sure I wont get a decent nights sleep ... YUK !!

Roanoke Friends - Know of a place to stay ?

I know we talk campers/camping here but the wife and I are taking a motorcycle trip along the Bluerided (hopefully end to end) Memorial day weekend ... maybe you guys can help with this ... I know its problably going to be "busy" up there. Its probably a good idea to have room / cabin reservations. Ive been on the parkway in different spots but have never traveled along the length for any real duration. I know she going to give me the "quick three" tap on the helmet often; our signal to stop for eats, to look at something or to drain. So its going to be tough to know where we will be at night fall or when we get tired. Im figuring a 6-8 hour actual saddle time. But it will be probably along the lines of 10-15 hours with stops to look. So from Hurdle Mills to the Front Royal entrance the nothern most entrance is about 5 hours. Another 3 or so should put me on the northern edge of Roanoke. So question is ... can anyone recommend clean, fairly reasonable motels, inns, hotels, (biker friendly is ok) or even campsites with a cabin with setup like a motel might have. If we are going to be riding, we want a "motel/hotel like" room to so we get a good nights sleep. Thanks again. You guys have given me lots of help in the past.
